The Coventry team

Stephanie Edwards, General Manager

I started my career working for Leicestershire Constabulary as a PA/ Secretary working in various departments from Human Resources to Account Management.  I was then transferred to Area Headquarters and took on a business manager role gaining qualifications in Business Management.  In 2004 I left the constabulary to work within the NHS as a PA to a Paediatric Cardiologist at Glenfield Hospital Leicester.  After 2 years I then decided to work within the private healthcare sector and worked for Priory at Sketchley Hall, Burbage the centre specialised in rehabilitation for patients with musculo-skeletal disorders, providing Functional Restoration Programmes.  Initially I was employed as their Business Office Supervisor to then eventually becoming the General Manager. As part of this role I was responsible for the day to day running of the unit, as well as promoting and developing new business.  I was responsible for staff management and recruitment and initiated staffs personal development through annual appraisals.  I worked very closely with the Healthcare Commission and helped develop clear care pathways for patients as well as well as co-ordinating the Clinical Governance.

Katherine Hill, Marketing Manager

Having originally started my career working within PA/Secretarial roles for Leicestershire Constabulary and an Advertising and PR Consultancy, I qualified in Marketing gaining my Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma in 1989.  Since then I have worked within various marketing roles for both corporate companies and marketing consultancies specialising in the marketing communications side of the business.  My experience in the healthcare market comes from working at Priory Sketchley Hall, in Burbage, Leicestershire for 6 ½ years, a dedicated centre specialising in the education, prevention and treatment of all musculo-skeletal disorders until its closure in 2006.  As part of this small multi-disciplinary team I gained a great deal of experience in all aspects of the business including new business development, exhibition and seminar organisation, brand identity, statistical analysis through to customer care.  Having recently joined The Real Health Institute in Coventry I look forward to continuing to develop the opportunity for individuals to have the opportunity to attend functional restoration programmes for musculo-skeletal disorders.

Wendy Mockridge, MCSP, SRP, Senior Physiotherapist

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from the Queen Elizabeth Medical Centre in Birmingham in the mid 1960s.  I gained my rotational experience in Reading, then Birmingham treating individuals both as inpatients and outpatients.  I returned to Birmingham to marry and had a career break of 8 years to start my family.  On my return to part-time work I was asked to assist in setting up a community based service in Birmingham with another physiotherapist.  After 2 years I decided to be hospital based and worked in outpatients at the City Hospital.  At the same time I set up a private practice using relaxation techniques to help migraine sufferers.

I become interested in women’s health and developed a service within the hospital specifically for women, including ante- and post-natal classes run alongside midwives.  I trained within the National Childbirth Trust and and taught classes for 3 years.  I also trained in exercises to music for ante and post natal women with the MCA.  I trained in reflex therapy with the Midland School in 1996 and still continue to use this modality with private patients.  I am a member of ACPIRT and in March 2006 trained with Sarah Key to use feet to mobilise spines.

In 1997 I decided that a change would be challenging and worked with a multi-disciplinary team treating chronic spinal pain patients at Priory Sketchley Hall until its closure in 2006 and joined Real Health to continue developing functional restoration programmes for patients with severe pain.

I am a member of the Holistic Federation of Sports Therapists. Following 5 years of voluntary work with St. Johns Ambulance Brigade, I developed a keen interest in Exercise Fitness, Sports Injuries and First Aid, so I gained further qualifications at Solihull College. During my course, I worked for a local leisure club, and since qualifying as a Sports Therapist I work with my local Rugby club, which I continue to enjoy and develop with each season that passes. I was awarded ‘Players Club-man of the Year’ 2006/2007. I am presently employed by The RealHealth Institute to deliver Functional Restoration Programmes and continue to broaden my knowledge and develop my skills to improve as a Sports Therapist.
